Dakabin is part of Pine Rivers District School Sport, which offer district level trials in a range of sports throughout the year. Trials for these sports will be advertised in student morning notices and students are able to speak to our school Sport Coordinator, to obtain approval to trial and collect the appropriate paperwork. Trial paperwork and information can also be accessed for the Pine Rivers District Sport website. If students are successful at a District level and are selected for a Pine Rivers District Sport team, they then usually progress to a Regional event where they trial to become a Metropolitan North representative. Information for these trials can be accessed by visiting the Metropolitan North Sport External link website. Successful students will then attend the State carnival and compete for selection in a Queensland team. Whilst that is the usual pathway for representative sports, it may differ for each sport. The representative trial process to be followed is outlined below:
- Students become aware of the district or regional sport trial via the morning notices or by visiting the appropriate websites. In some cases, students may go straight to a regional trial as there will be insufficient numbers for a District trial.
- Students will receive an EOI nomination form and the district will directly send a parental/carer permission form to the nominated email address.
- This parental/carer permission form must be completed and returned to the sport coordinator via email or to the HPE staffroom. This paperwork will contain all necessary information related to the trial, including the process for payment as this Is not managed by the individual school.
Students are responsible making their own way to and from the trial. If a student is successful in gaining selection, all necessary paperwork will be distributed to them via their coach/manager at the trials. Students are responsible for ensuring the school is aware of any school days that will be missed due to representative trials or events. If a student has been successful in gaining selection in a representative team, they should advise the Sport Coordinator at school to ensure they gain appropriate recognition from the school, should it meet the requirements for a Sports Award.
