Inter-School Sport

We participate in junior interschool sport in the Pine Rivers District, competing against most of the local and surrounding schools. As a general rule of thumb, students should travel on alternate weeks and play at home on alternate weeks. This rotational schedule is not always possible, due to constraints of the draw, wet weather and other uncontrollable factors.
We also participate in senior interschool sport, in the Sunshine Coast South District. There are a number of secondary schools whom we compete against, including Clontarf, Redcliffe, Deception Bay, Mueller College, Grace Lutheran College (both Rothwell and Caboolture campuses), North Lakes Stage College, Northpine Christian College, Bray Park SHS, Genesis Christian College, Tullawong SHS, Caboolture SHS and Morayfield SHS.
If a team from Dakabin SHS has finished in first place at the end of the required number of rounds, in either summer or winter sport, they have qualified to move through the 4 levels of Metropolitan Finals, run by Queensland School sport. This is a knock-out competition that can take four weeks to complete. Most of these games take place during normal sport times, but as the rounds progress, particularly to the fourth and final round, extra time off school may be required.
For students, participation in interschool sport is a privilege, not a right. It is incumbent upon the students to show excellent behaviour and dedication to their academic pursuits at school in order to be accepted in a sports team. There is a cost of $40 (subject to change) which must be paid in order to contribute to the cost of bus transportation and equipment for the individual sports. Students must also be financial in their resource hire commitments, as well as all other fees incurred throughout the school year.
