The student support team consists of the following support services:
Guidance Officers
You can talk to the Guidance Officers about problems at home, school or with friends; also issues that are stopping you from being successful at school. They are there to assist with career planning and subject selection. Guidance Officers work with students, families and teachers to provide support.
School Based Youth Support
The SBYSO works with students who are experiencing challenges at home or at school. Some main areas the SBYSO’s focus on are: individual work, linking to outside agencies and making referrals, lunchtime activities, group programs, providing financial support, breakfast program, working with families/ home visits, attending school events etc.
Chaplains
The role of the Chaplain is to support entire school community with any social, emotional and spiritual needs irrespective of religion or belief.
School Based Police Officer
The role of the School Based Police Officer is to develop positive relationships with the school community, develop crime prevention and problem orientated initiatives, engaging community and inter-agency partnerships, assist young people to understand the law and legal processes and attend to police-related matters within the school community, where appropriate. Matters not relating to the school or that occur after hours can be reported to your local station or Policelink on 131444.
School Based Youth Health Nurse
Students can speak with the nurse confidentially about health issues which that they are worried about. Some of the things students see the school nurse about are relationships, sexual health, feelings of sadness, worries or being angry, growth & development, healthy eating & exercise, personal or family problems and smoking, alcohol & other drugs.
Broncos Academy
Staff who support students who have signed up to be a part of the Broncos Academy. They also provides students with support at school, and help to organise events for students in the Academy.
